Tanks come in all shapes and
sizes. At Villa Environmental Consultants Inc., we can help you
make sure that your tank is in compliance - that's a storage tank
not an M1.
Villa Environmental Consultants, Inc., is available to design and
construct, upgrade, or replace an Underground or Aboveground Storage
Tank (UST or AST). We also provide the necessary site
assessment, soil assessment, and related investigation for removals.
In addition, every state regulates contamination caused by a UST or
an AST. There are many complicated regulations which apply to
commercial and industrial tanks. Please contact Eric Larcinese,
Vice President, Senior Environmental Project Manager, at eric@villaenv.com
to discuss your situation. Villa Environmental Consultants, Inc., has
certified and experienced individuals who can test the soil
surrounding a tank to determine if a leak has occurred.
A brief reference guide to tank systems includes the following list
of general requirements and statements:
 | UST registration is required for all tanks that contain
regulated substances
 | Regulated substances include gasoline, diesel and waste oil
 | If a regulated tank is removed or closed in place, soil samples
and a site assessment is required
 | A tank can be filled in place if removal causes structural
damage to an adjoining facility
 | An above ground storage tank can also pose a problem with leaks
and spills
 | There are many similar regulations imposed on both an UST and
AST
 | Placement of an AST on a site is very critical, so as to meet
state and federal requirements |
 | Heating oil tanks are regulated in some states.
They may have to be removed (or closed in place) if they are not
in use. |
