Although asbestos
training has been around for a while, its never too late to learn about
it. Asbestos training classes are not like teaching an old dog new
tricks but keeping workers aware of the potential hazards not only to
themselves, but to the occupants of the building.
The OSHA construction standard CFR 1926.1101 requires
initial 16 hour training and a 4 hour annual refresher for school
maintenance or custodial staff who may disturb or repair small
quantities of asbestos containing materials. The 2 hour asbestos
awareness training and annual refresher are required for all maintenance
and custodial staff that may come in contact with asbestos containing
materials.
