Controlling energy at the work
place is essential to eliminate accidents and is necessary to comply
with the law. Typically called "lock out - tag out" the
control of energy is much more than controlling electricity.
Lock out - tag out refers to controlling any type of energy that may
cause injuries. Other sources of energy that are included:
high pressure gas, steam, or air lines; machinery, moving parts, and electricity
to name a few.
A lock out tag out program involves taking an inventory of all
possible energy sources and developing written procedures for each one.
A master plan is also required along with adequate training of just not
the staff to lock out equipment, but also all the affected persons.
Villa Environmental Consultants, Inc., can help develop or update
your existing plan.
